Meta Ads for Wedding Photographers: What Real Campaigns Cost per Enquiry

Real Meta ads data from five wedding photography accounts in India: ₹58.55 average per enquiry, best ads from ₹23, and the campaign setup behind them.

By GRWW Team← All posts

Across five Indian wedding photography accounts we manage, Meta ads brought 1,130 enquiries at an average of ₹58.55 each. The best individual ads did far better: a Reel at ₹23.16 per conversation, messaging ads at ₹27–33, and a pre-wedding lead form at ₹48.11. The gap comes down to format, creative and how fast losers are switched off.

This is a numbers-first playbook. Below are the real results, account by account, followed by the campaign setup we use and a way to work out what an enquiry is actually worth to your studio.

What did each wedding photography account actually achieve?

Where we have an account-level average, it landed between roughly ₹42 and ₹66 per enquiry, while best ads clustered in the ₹23–49 range. All figures are lifetime results, using Meta's default attribution of 7-day click and 1-day view. Enquiries mean WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram conversations, plus lead-form submissions where noted.

A few things worth noticing:

  • The biggest account is not the cheapest. The Patna studio with 487 conversations ran at ₹65.26 on average, but its best ad cost a third less. Scale tends to pull averages up because weaker ads and broader audiences get budget too.
  • Messaging ads were consistently cheap. In the wedding and pre-wedding studio, two messaging ads came in at ₹32.40 (3.63% CTR) and ₹27.23 per conversation.
  • The film studio is small but efficient. Twenty conversations at ₹42.37 suggests demand for wedding films exists, but volume needs more budget or broader targeting.

Which campaign type brings the cheapest wedding enquiries?

Click-to-message campaigns (ads that open WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram DM) gave the lowest cost per enquiry in these accounts. Lead forms cost a little more but delivered more structured information to qualify.

Campaign typeWhat happens when someone tapsStrengthWeakness
Click-to-WhatsApp / messageOpens a chat with your studioCheapest enquiries; feels personal; couples ask directlySome chats are just "price?"; needs fast replies
Instant lead formA form inside Instagram/Facebook, pre-filledCaptures date, city, budget at scaleLeads haven't spoken to you yet; must call quickly
Traffic to websiteSends people to your siteBuilds retargeting audiences; shows full galleriesUsually more expensive per enquiry

Our rule of thumb for photographers: start with a messaging campaign for wedding enquiries, add a lead form for pre-wedding shoots or package offers, and use website traffic mainly to build retargeting audiences. For a deeper comparison of the two main formats, see Meta lead form ads vs messaging ads, and for the WhatsApp campaign mechanics, click-to-WhatsApp ads at the lowest cost.

What kind of creative worked best?

Short Reels from real weddings tended to earn the highest click-through rates. The single cheapest result in this data set, ₹23.16 per conversation with a 3.50% CTR, came from a Reel ad.

What the strongest ads had in common:

  • A moment in the first second. A bride's reaction, a varmala, a dance floor burst. Not a logo, not a slow pan over décor.
  • Real couples, real venues. Recognisable local venues help couples picture their own day.
  • One clear ask. "Check availability for your date on WhatsApp" beats a list of services.
  • Vertical video, sound optional. Captions or on-screen text carry the message for people scrolling with sound off.
  • A pre-wedding angle for lead forms. The best lead form in the data was for pre-wedding shoots, which are often a lower-commitment first booking.

Creative wears out. Plan a fresh batch of three to five ads every few weeks during busy months. Our post on Meta ads creative that stops the scroll has more on hooks and formats.

How should you set up the campaign?

Keep the structure simple so Meta's delivery system gets enough data to learn. Too many ad sets on a small budget starve all of them.

A starting structure that works for most studios:

  1. One messaging campaign optimising for conversations, with WhatsApp as the destination.
  2. One or two ad sets. Location: your city plus the districts or nearby cities where you regularly shoot. Age: broad enough to include couples and the family members who often influence the choice. Interests: start broad; Meta's delivery usually finds engaged couples better than narrow interest stacks.
  3. Three to five ads per ad set: mostly Reels, plus one or two strong carousels from a single wedding.
  4. A greeting message and quick questions in the WhatsApp ad setup, such as "What's your wedding date?" and "Which city is the wedding in?"
  5. One lead-form campaign for pre-wedding shoots or a seasonal package, with two or three qualifying questions.

Review weekly. After roughly a week of data, pause ads costing well above the account average and move budget to the best performer.

How much should a wedding photographer spend per month?

Choose a budget you can sustain for at least a month, then judge it on bookings, not enquiries. The averages above help you estimate volume.

Illustrative arithmetic using our real average of ₹58.55 per enquiry:

Monthly ad spendRough enquiries at ₹58.55At a best-ad cost of ₹30
₹5,000about 85about 165
₹10,000about 170about 330
₹25,000about 425about 830

Treat this as a planning sketch, not a promise. Costs per enquiry usually rise as you spend more, vary by city and season, and depend heavily on creative. For broader budget guidance, our pillar on marketing for wedding photographers puts ad spend in context alongside your website and SEO.

How do you turn cost per enquiry into cost per booking?

Divide your ad spend by the number of weddings booked from those ads. That's the number that tells you whether ads are profitable.

A worked example with hypothetical numbers:

  • You spend ₹15,000 in a month and receive 250 enquiries (about ₹60 each).
  • 60 of those share a date and city you can serve.
  • 20 take a call or visit the studio.
  • 4 book.

Your cost per booking is ₹15,000 ÷ 4 = ₹3,750. If an average booking is worth far more than that after costs, the ads are working, even though most enquiries never booked.

The quickest way to lower cost per booking is usually better follow-up, not cheaper ads. Replying within minutes, asking for date and venue early, and sending a price guide straight away all lift the share of enquiries that book.

Why do some wedding photography ads fail?

Most failures trace back to creative that looks like everyone else's, slow replies, or targeting too narrow to deliver. Common patterns:

  • Boosting posts instead of running proper campaigns with a clear objective.
  • Leading with a logo or text card instead of a real moment.
  • Hidden prices with no range at all, so chats stall after "rates?".
  • Hours-long reply times on WhatsApp, which turn cheap enquiries into wasted ones.
  • Targeting only one pin code or a tiny interest list, which keeps ads stuck in learning.
  • Judging after three days. Costs swing early; give an ad set about a week.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good cost per enquiry for wedding photographers on Meta in India?

In our five accounts, the average was ₹58.55, with strong individual ads between about ₹23 and ₹49. If you're well above ₹100 for a sustained period, review creative, targeting and campaign type. What matters more is cost per booking, which depends on your conversion rate and prices.

Should I use Instagram or Facebook placements?

Let Meta use both at first with automatic placements, then check the placement breakdown after a couple of weeks to see where enquiries actually come from. Design creative for vertical Instagram Reels and Stories either way. Exclude placements only if they're clearly bringing poor enquiries.

Do lead forms or WhatsApp ads bring better couples?

WhatsApp ads usually bring cheaper, more conversational enquiries, while lead forms collect structured details like date and budget. Many studios run both: messaging for wedding enquiries and lead forms for pre-wedding shoots or package offers. Track bookings from each to decide.

How long should I run an ad before judging it?

Give each new ad set around a week and enough spend to produce several enquiries. Early costs are often higher while Meta's system learns. After that, pause ads well above your average and put budget behind the winners.

Can these results be expected outside India?

The patterns, such as messaging ads being cheap and Reels earning high CTRs, are useful anywhere. The rupee costs are not. Costs per enquiry in the US, UK or Australia are typically much higher, so test with a small budget and set targets from your own data.
